Chiefs of Ontario Child Welfare Data Symposium

The Chiefs of Ontario Social Services and Research and Data Management Sectors will be co-hosting a Child Welfare Data Symposium on September 25, 2025. This event is specifically designed for First Nations Leadership and technicians. The symposium will have three main focuses: connecting participants with the key sectors, organizations, and individuals currently shaping the First Nations data landscape in Ontario; providing essential updates on ongoing initiatives; and highlighting existing challenges related to the collection, use, and protection of First Nations data. Presenters will include representatives from the Chiefs of Ontario, Indigenous Services Canada, and First Nations child and well-being agencies. First Nations Leadership and technicians will leave the symposium with a greater understanding of the issues, current status, and key organizations involved in ongoing initiatives. They'll also gain clarity on both the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and First Nation approaches to child welfare data and will be better equipped to identify Nation-specific points of interest, intervention, and opportunities for collaboration.

Upon registration, a Microsoft Teams link will be emailed to you, providing access to the meeting.
