
Chiefs of Ontario - All Ontario Chiefs Conference and Regional Chief Election
The Chiefs of Ontario 2021 All Ontario Chiefs Conference (AOCC) is being hosted by Grand Council Treaty #3 and will take place virtually June 15-17, 2021. The election of the Regional Chief will take place during this virtual gathering, with votes cast online on June 16, 2021. The following breakdown provides information leading up to and during the election. Early registration to the meeting and via SmartBallot will assist in carrying out the electoral process.

All Ontario Chiefs Conference & Regional Chief Election Information
Election Update
Due to the current Pandemic, and our inability to gather, Elder Gordon Waindubence will conduct an online election that will honour the spirit, intent, and integrity of our established traditional stand-up election process. Chiefs and proxies will cast votes online using the OneFeather voting system. Please see Conference Booklet for the full Election Update, Election Process, Rules of Procedure and AOCC Code of Conduct.
Nomination
Nominations are open until June 15, 2021. The nominations for Ontario Regional Chief will occur during an online circle. To be nominated, the Candidate(s) must be a citizen of a First Nation community within the Ontario Region. All nominations require a mover and seconder, and the nominator and seconder must be a Chief or a Proxy from a First Nation community within the Ontario Region. In addition to this, the Candidate(s) nominated must have been presented with tobacco in advance.

AOCC - 3rd Call for Resolutions
Resolutions are the essential mechanism by which First Nations provide specific mandates and direction to the Chiefs of Ontario. Resolution Deadline is May 26, 2021.

AOCC - Proxy Letters
In the event that your community sends a proxy (from the First Nation Governance), please provide the secretariat with your ‘Letter of Proxy’ (template below) in advance. This must be received prior to registering for the All Ontario Chiefs Conference. Please send your proxy letter to the attention of Dianne Simon at dianne@coo.org. The proxy attending can register at the registration link with an option to register as a proxy for your community.
